Records & STAR Unit Commander
The Records Division is comprised of 10 employees these positions are comprised of receptionist, switchboard operator, mail courier, clerks and Division Commander. The Records Division is open to the public 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday with the exception of holidays. Fingerprinting hours are 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM.
The Central Records Division is responsible for the dispersal and filing of all incoming reports and paperwork and overseeing the retention and disposal of records. Other functions include maintaining case files on law enforcement cases, maintaining finger and photograph files. Records employees also assist the public with local criminal background checks, copies of reports, fingerprinting, registering felons, data entry of tickets, distribution and posting of agency mail and assisting victims, witnesses and others seeking information contained in central record files in accordance with the public records law.
The Sheriff’s Telephone Automated Reporting System (S.T.A.R.) Division; has 17 employees, this consists of S.T.A.R. operators and Division Commander. This Division operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This is a function which allows deputies, detectives or any officer the ability to phone in reports to an operator directly from the field. The benefits of this system are more accurate reports, timely statistics, management information and easier computer access to law enforcement reports. One major goal of the employees of this Division is to reduce the amount of time an officer spends on paperwork.
This Division is also responsible for the compilation and publication of the Agency’s monthly report/Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) which is used for management purposes and compiled in a yearly report and sent to the FBI for statistical data for the state of Florida.

Public records requests made under the guidelines of the Public Records Act defined in Section 119.0011(11) of the Florida State Statutes will be accommodated.

$20.00 first hour minimum charge
- Additional research time is billed in increments of quarterly hours.
- Fees for 911 audio tapes are based upon the current fiscal hourly rate for a Communications Officer.
- This fee will include the cost of the compact disc(s).
- Fees for video tapes / digital video discs are based upon the current fiscal hourly rate for a Detective.
- This fee will include the cost of video tapes(s) / DVD(s).
