All deputies who patrol Marion County are assigned to the Community Policing Bureau. In 1844 land was taken from Hillsborough, Orange, and Alachua Counties to form our county.
In 2008 Marion County deputies assigned to the Community Policing Bureau drove 4,340,249 miles patrolling the county. Marion County boundaries encompasses 1652 square miles (larger than the state of Rhode Island), and due to the large area all uniformed deputies who patrol Marion County are assigned to one of our 14 strategically located patrol districts.
Each patrol district is supervised by a District Commander who is responsible for the staffing and operation of the District. The uniformed deputy is equipped with the state of the art technology to enable them to provide quality law enforcement services. By decentralizing our deputies it makes them more accessible to the citizens we proudly serve throughout Marion County.
