The Mobile Field Force (MFF) is made up of approximately 50 deputies from the Community Policing and Special Investigations Divisions of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, who at a moments notice will respond anywhere in Marion County or any other county that may need our assistance.

Duties of the Mobile Field Force Team include, but are not limited to:

  • Restoring civil order
  • Homeland Security
  • Search and rescue
  • Natural or manmade disasters
  • Perimeter security of large geographical areas
  • Any other duties designated by the Sheriff

The Mobile Field Force Team has approximately 50 members who have other primary duties, but are on call 24 hours a day to respond to any of the above type incidents. Members train regularly to be prepared for any type situation they may have to respond to.

In the year 2010, the MFF assisted patrol with the search of several missing and endangered persons. The MFF also assisted Major Crimes with searching for the remains of Christine Wiles and the weapon allegedly used in her murder. The MFF also responded to Sumter County to assist with the search for a subject who shot at an FHP trooper. The MFF conducted training in Jacksonville and also attended training on the behaviors of lost persons.
