The Marion County Sheriff's Office is committed to our core values. These 12 values represent the foundations of our agency. They guide our actions, both in how we treat each other and how we treat our customers, the citizens of Marion County.
Neatness -- Being proud of one's service to the public begins with being proud of one's self. Personal appearance is generally accepted as an expression of one's ability. Neatness is a sign of order and discipline.
Punctuality -- One cannot show respect for others if one does not respect the time of others. First impressions are important, and it is impossible to make a favorable first impression if one is late.
Brotherhood -- Brotherhood is the bonding of disparate individuals into a common relationship which transcends division. It is the realization that a group must sink or swim, perish or survive together.
Persistence -- Through persistence, positive things are accomplished. When channeled in the right direction, persistence is a very powerful tool, especially to a deputy working a criminal case.
Pride -- Pride is the first time you pin a badge on and respond to a citizen's call for help knowing you are their first line of protection.
Respect -- As an individual, failure to show respect to others is a sign of weakness. Respect is seen by others in many ways, such as the way you present yourself, your tone of voice and your use of common courtesy.
Shame -- “To choose wrong over right and to be caught, whether by apprehension or by the condemnation of one’s own conscience, must cause one to feel shame.” -- former Governor Zell Miller
Responsibility -- Responsibility should not be as easy to shirk or discard as last year's fashions. Each of us shares responsibilites to the community in which we live.
Achievement -- "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." -- Theodore Roosevelt
Courage -- Courage is the state of mind that puts the life of another before one's self.
Discipline -- Discipline is the mortar that holds a concrete block building in place, for without the mortar, the blocks shift and break and soon collapse around you in defeat.
Loyalty -- A true and unfailing devotion to a cause, loyalty is kindred to unselfishness. It entails disregarding your own personal likes, dislikes, hopes, desires and interests in order that the common cause may triumph.
