CORRECTIONS OFFICER

We are currently recruiting and hiring for the position of Correction Officer within the Corrections  Division.

Minimum qualifications for this position include the following:

At least 19 years of age
U.S. Citizen

High School Graduate or equivalent

Honorable or General Discharge (if a Veteran)

No felony arrests

No misdemeanor convictions involving perjury or false statements.

Possess a valid driver’s license.

Successfully pass physical, oral interview and a psychological examination.

Successfully complete Basic Corrections Recruit School approved by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

Must be available to work full-time shift work in the Marion County Jail and as assigned.

Duties:

Abide by the “Law Enforcement Code of Ethics”.

Be responsible for the reception, custody, control and release of inmates.

Maintain order and discipline within the facility, enforcing all inmate rules and regulations, and reporting all violations promptly, in writing, to a Corrections Custody Supervisor.

Be constantly alert and security conscious in order to prevent escapes, introduction of contraband or other violations.

Search inmates entering the detention facility for contraband as required.

Inspect living quarters and inmates for contraband as per the Post Orders or Operations Directives

Stand guard, observe inmates and take required action in emergencies.

Perform any other duties that may be required by the Sheriff or through necessity of situations.
