I am Lieutenant Mike Mongeluzzo, District Commander of the Dunnellon District. It is the westernmost district in Marion County; a diverse community consisting of agricultural and residential areas.

The District is comprised of an area of 213.39 square miles with a total population of 23,947 residents as of 2010. The District extends as far North as U.S. Hwy 27 and is bordered by Levy County to the West and Citrus County to the South.

The district is known for the Rainbow River, which is the 2nd largest artesian spring in the nation. The river is 5.7 miles long and merges with the Withlacoochee River. It is a popular destination to swim, snorkel, canoe, and picnic.

The Dunnellon District has three volunteer groups; the Citizens Observer Patrol, Rainbow Lakes Estates Community Patrol, and River Watch. They patrol our residential and area waterways and act as additional eyes and ears for the Sheriff’s Office.

It is my honor and privilege to be your District Commander. Please feel free to contact us at (352)402-6050 for any questions, concerns, or compliments you have regarding our services or staff.
