LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENTINVESTIGATE ROBBERIES

OCALA: Investigators with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Ocala Police Department and Belleview Police Department have joined forces to investigate robbery/home invasion
incidents throughout the county.

From October 4, 2006 through December 29, 2006, 10 home invasion/robberies have been reported. Law enforcement believes these incidents are linked due to the description of the suspects, the sequence of events and that all the victims are individual business owners who carry cash.

Investigators believe the suspects follow the victim home from their business or are waiting for them when they return at the end of the day. All of the occurrences have been between 8:00 P.M. – midnight.

The suspects are described as black males, wearing black clothing, masks and gloves,
armed with semiautomatic handguns and tie the victims up. No one has been injured
during these incidents.

A statewide teletype has been sent informing other agencies about these incidents and asking if they have experienced the same type of robberies. Investigators feel that the
suspects are well organized and have a solid plan for carrying out the crime.

A safety bulletin is being handed out to businesses such as restaurants, beauty supply
shops, delis and other individually owned businesses.

Anyone who may have information regarding the suspects is requested to contact MCSO
Detective Donald Buie or Sergeant Mark Jones at 732-9111. If you wish to remain
anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 368-STOP (7867).
