OCALA: Jimmy Frank Taylor of Belleview was arrested late Tuesday night for driving under the influence. This is the seventh time Taylor has been charged with DUI. The prior incidents took place in various counties throughout Georgia.
Deputy G. Miller observed a Ford pickup traveling on CR 314A with a tag that was not assigned to that vehicle. The deputy initiated a traffic stop to speak with the driver. Taylor admitted to taking the tag from a travel trailer and placing it on his truck. His truck was unregistered, his license has been suspended since October 2003 for DUI and the tag was also expired. Taylor also took a tag validation sticker from another vehicle to place on the travel trailer tag.
The deputy suspected that Taylor had been drinking and requested him to perform standard roadside sobriety tests which he failed and was arrested. At the jail, he agreed to take a breath test with results of .214, .198 and .208. The legal limit in Florida is .08.
Drunk driving is an act that affects a wide circle of victims, not just the driver. Over the past year, Marion County has seen fatalities and court trials due to this behavior. The families of the driver and victims are irrevocably damaged.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office is devoted to keeping the streets of our community safe for all residents and visitors. |
