MEN ARRESTED FOR CARGO THEFT
 
OCALA: An undercover cargo theft operation made 3 arrests Saturday, May 20, 2006, after two semi cargo trailers were stolen from the Pilot Truck Stop at Hwy 326 & I-75.

At approximately 16:26 P.M., agents with Marion County Sheriff's Office and Florida Highway Patrol were monitoring unattended semi cargo trailers when the first theft occurred. The second trailer was taken at approximately 17:06 P.M. Both semi's headed southbound on I-75 with agents following them. The trucks were stopped in the vicinity of the Hwy 484 exit.

The first trailer was taken by Maikel Saez Fuerte, 27, of Miami. The second trailer was taken by Yunior Perez, 27, of Hialeah and Jorge Ramierez Torres, 33, also of Hialeah.
The group traveled to Marion County in semi-trucks from south Florida with the intention of stealing cargo trailers and returning south to sell the cargo on the black market.

In 2002, Torres was involved with a criminal enterprise along with 4 others who were in possession of a stolen trailer containing $169,000.00 worth of air conditioner units, $76,000.00 of clothing and approximately $1 million dollars of cosmetics. The arrests were made by the Miami-Dade Police Department.

One trailer including cargo is worth in excess of $100,000.00. The worth of the second cargo trailer is estimated at $20-30,000.00.

All 3 men will receive a traffic citation for using a commercial vehicle to commit cargo theft. If convicted on this charge, they will loose their CD license. They face other charges of Grand Theft, Felony Criminal Mischief, Possession of Burglary Tools and Organized Fraud.

The men were booked into the Marion County Jail with no bond.
