MAN ARRESTED FOR FALSELY IMPERSONATING OFFICER

Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrested Waldo Mason Wattles III for falsely impersonating an officer, trespass after warning and violation of probation (related to sex battery with a weapon or by force case).

Witnesses say Wattles, 51, flashed a badge at Fat Daddy’s Bar, 10135 SE Sunset Harbor Road, Summerfield. Wattles reportedly told bar employees, he was an “undercover cop.”

A Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy questioned witnesses and Wattles. The deputy arrested Wattles, who had a blue wallet containing a gold Private International Investigator badge.

After Wattles arrived at the Marion County Jail, the deputy conducted a computer check and found Wattles is on felony probation for sex battery with a weapon or by force. Wattles probation does not end until 2016.

Wattles bonds are: $7,500 for falsely impersonating an officer; $7,500 for trespassing; and no bond for violation of probation. He remains in the Marion County Jail.
