At approximately 8:30 this evening, Sheriff’s Office Air 1 Unit was returning from a call in the southwest area of Marion County when the pilot reported a loss of power. Sheriff’s Office pilots Peter Rogers and Michael Turner were able to make a forced landing at the Ocala Airport. Neither were injured.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of the damage to the helicopter. The Sheriff’s Office has notified the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation and Safety Board of the incident and is awaiting their response to assist in the investigation.
