At approximately 12:15 a.m. on 09-15-09, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual battery that allegedly occurred at knifepoint. The victim reported that the suspect, Robert Marrero, was an acquaintance and had come to her house to watch a movie. When the victim asked Marrero to leave, he retrieved a knife from the kitchen and sexually battered her in a bedroom.

On 09-24-09, a Sheriff’s Office DNA screening lab technician confirmed through DNA analysis that the alleged incident had occurred. On 10-13-09, detectives were able to locate Marrero in a bar in Marion Oaks and arrested him.
