The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an on-going recruitment for the position of Reserve Deputy.
This is a volunteer position requiring a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer service per month assigned to the Community Policing Division.
High School diploma or GED.
Successfully complete Basic Police Recruit School in the State of Florida or receive a certificate of comparative compliance from the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
Ability to maintain physical condition needed to affect arrest, subdue resisting individuals, chase fleeing subjects, lift and carry equipment and injured persons, force entry into buildings, climb flights of stairs, walk, stand, sit or drive for long periods of time, endure exposure to extreme weather.
Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License, with a good driving record.
Be able to effectively communicate information both orally and in writing.
Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively, and determine a proper course of action.
Ability to react quickly and calmly under emergency situations.
Ability to cope with situations firmly, courteously and tactfully, with respect to rights of others.
Ability to develop skill in use and care of firearms.
Be in good physical and mental condition, and successfully pass physical and psychological examinations.
Must complete the recruiting process including submission of a notarized application, interviews, and extensive background investigation and a polygraph exam.
