SHERIFF CHARLES THOMAS

Charles “Dizzy” Thomas was appointed in August 1960, to replace Agnes McGehee, and served the remainder of that year. 

Since the appointment would result in a full term, Florida Statute required that a special election be held to choose a Sheriff for that term. Former Chief Deputy under Sheriff McGehee, Doug Willis, ran for the office and handedly beat Sheriff Thomas.
