Hello, my name is Lieutenant Eric Thoresen and I am the Commander of the South Central District. My office is located at the South Multi-District office on U.S. Highway 441, between Ocala and Belleview.
There are 12 deputies assigned to the South Central District when fully staffed. The South Central District is located south of the Ocala City Limits, but encompasses the cities of Belleview and Summerfield. The district covers approximately 57 square miles with a population of about 28,000 residents. The district is also home to a portion of the Florida Greenways and Trails, which is a great recreation site for avid walkers, trail hikers, mountain bike and horseback riders. During the hours of 8-5, Monday through Friday, the office is staffed by Miss Hanna Tingue, who can assist you with reporting crimes or suspicious incidents, obtaining copies of reports and fingerprinting requests.
As your South Central District Commander, I ensure proper staffing, attempt to identify problem areas or trends in the district, handle administrative responsibilities, take care of personnel issues, and ensure any problems or complaints from citizens within the district are handled appropriately. If there are any comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to stop by the office or call me at 352-438-5953.
