FUGITIVE APPREHENSION UNIT

The Fugitive Apprehension Unit primarily investigates and locates defendants named in criminal arrest documents that are violent offenders, have extensive criminal histories or are evading arrest. The unit is responsible for the entire county, which is the 5th largest county in the State of Florida at roughly 1,588.4 square miles and a population of over 420,000. 

The unit is comprised of one working Lieutenant and four Fugitive Apprehension Deputies. The primary mission of the Fugitive Apprehension Unit is to protect the public by removing dangerous individuals from the community. The unit prioritizes capturing violent career offenders, sex offenders, and subjects who have committed violent felonies with warrants. 

Overall, the Fugitive Apprehension Unit is a vital component of law enforcement, and the members are dedicated to tracking down individuals who pose a significant risk to the community, by ensuring justice is served and maintaining public safety.
